12 Days Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar

Day 1: Dar es salaam-Ruaha

After arriving into Dar es Salaa, you will transfer to a domestic flight to Ruaha National Park

On arrival into Ruaha National Park, you will be taken to Ruaha River Lodge to rest and when ready enjoy the rest of the day in the park seeing the wildlife.

Dinner provided. 2 small bottles of water (500ml) per person are also provided.

Day 2: full day

Enjoy a full day game drive at the park.

Overnight again at Ruaha River Lodge.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided.

Ruaha is well known for its varied dramatic scenery, which includes rolling hills; large open plains; groves of skeletal baobabs and along its southern border, the Great Ruaha River, from which the park gets its name. This is by far the most dominant geographical feature of the national park and, for the wildlife it is the most important. Ruaha has a hot, dry climate which means the animals don’t tend to stray too far from dependable water sources. This makes predicating game movements far easier particularly in the dry season like this August.

Days 3: Ruaha -Morogoro

After breakfast, drive all the way with your picnic lunch to Morogoro.

Overnight at Nashera Hotel

Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided. 2 small bottles of water (500ml) per person are also provided.

Day 4: Morogoro-Selous

After breakfast, drive onto Selous Game Reserve.

Overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided. 2 small bottles of water (500ml) per person are also provided.

Day 5: Full day

After breakfast enjoy a full day game drive around Selous

Overnight at Rufiji River Camp again

Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided.

Day 6: Full day

Half day game drive at the park and then after lunch enjoy a boat ride at Rufiji River

Overnight at Rufiji River Camp again

Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided.

Day 7: Selous-Zanzibar

Drive to the Selous Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar. On arrival into Zanzibar at you will be met and taken to Kholle House in Stone town for a few hours free time. You will be booked into this hotel on a B&B basis.

Breakfast and lunchboxes provided.

2 small bottles of water (500ml) per person are also provided.

Day 8: Zanzibar

After breakfast at 10am, you will be picked from the hotel and taken to Prison Island to see the giant turtles.

You will then return around lunch time to Stonetown where you are free for the rest of the day.

Overnight at Kholle House again on B&B basis

Day 9: Zanzibar

At 10am you will be picked up from the hotel and taken on a Spice Tour (which includes lunch) and then transferred to Hideaway Hotel in Nungwi, on the northern part of the island.

You will be booked into this hotel on a HALF board basis (breakfast and either lunch or dinner provided)

The history of Zanzibar would not be complete without the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and many other spices which brought the Sultans of Oman. The Spice Tour does not only involve spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking.

Day 10/11: Zanzibar

Enjoy the beach!

Overnight at Hideaway Hotel again on a half board basis

Breakfast and either lunch or dinner provided.

Day 12: Departure

Today you will be picked up and transferred to the Zanzibar Airport for your flight to Dar es Salaam.
