14 Day Southern Tanzania Safari

Day 1

Guests arriving at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) will be met by a Tanzania Roadside Expeditions representative who will brief and transfer you to your hotel. Accommodations will be booked on a half board basis that include dinner and breakfast.

Day 2

After breakfast, we drive to Bagamoyo for a leisurely swim and ocean view.

Day 3

After breakfast, we depart for various activities in Bagamoyo such as visiting historical sites like the slave port, the first church in the region, walk through Bagamoyo’s mangroves and old streets with its ethnically and religiously diverse population of African, Arab and Indian residents.

Day 4

After breakfast, we depart on our full day drive to the Selous Game Reserve.

Day 5

After breakfast, we will depart for a full day of game viewing in Selous Game Reserve. Selous is the biggest game reserve in Africa. It covers more than 31,000 sq. mi. / 50,000 sq. km. In Selous, you will have the opportunity to see big herds of elephants, greater kudu, and Nyasa land wildebeests, African wild dogs, Selous zebras, crocodiles and the hippos that wallow in the Rufiji River.

Day 6

After breakfast we depart for a waking tour inside the game reserve area where you will have the opportunity to see animals up close. After lunch, we depart for a boating and canoeing expedition on the Rufiji River. In the evening, we will return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

After breakfast, we drive to Morogoro for dinner and overnight.

Day 8

After breakfast we will depart for Ruaha National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 9

After breakfast, we begin our full day of game viewing. Ruaha National Park is famous for big cats like lions, leopards and cheetahs. You can also see bat eared fox, roan antelopes, sable antelopes and lesser kudu and greater kudu and you can occasionally see the endangered African dog. You will see lots of crocodiles and the hippos wallowing in the Rufiji River. Ruaha is also the habitat of beautiful and diverse species of birds. In the evening, we will have a walking tour to view nocturnal animals that are rarely seen up close. We will also canoe in the Rufiji River.

Day 10

After breakfast, we depart for a walking tour inside Ruaha National Park. Walking inside the park will give you an opportunity to be close to nature and animals life. In the evening, we will be in the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 11

After breakfast, we depart for a half day tour inside Ruaha National Park and afterwards drive to Kisolanza where we will visit Kisolanza tobacco plantation so we can stretch our legs and then return to the hotel dinner and overnight.

Day 12

After breakfast, we depart for Mikumi National Park for half day tour. Mikumi is famous for its large herds of elephants, Cape buffalos and impalas. You will also have the opportunity to see lots of zebras, giraffes, lions and watch a beautiful and diverse spectrum of colorful species of birds.

Day 13

After breakfast, we depart for full day game viewing inside the park. In the evening, we will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14

After breakfast, we depart for Dar-es-Salaam for half day room use and early then transfer to the airport (DAR) to fly back home.

Included:

Full board bases accommodations at the lodges during your safari. Tanzania Roadside Expeditions provides private transport (with no mile / kilometer restriction) in a 4×4 vehicle with roof hatches with VHF radio, a GSM contact with our base in Arusha , an English speaking driver/guide, park entry fees, canoeing on the Rufiji river, flight from Ruaha to Dar-es-Salaam, walking tour and drinks including the mineral water.

Note: We do not have control over government taxes (park fees and airport taxes). We will try our best to keep the accommodation as mentioned but in case of over booking, we will provide a different accommodation of the same quality.
